Just For Laughs presents The Alternative Comedy Tour – featuring some of comedy’s funniest and quirkiest stand-ups for an evening of off-beat hilarity.  Headlining The Alternative Comedy Tour is the star of the Emmy Award Winning series Silicon Valley and box office hit Deadpool, TJ Miller, with special guest Rhys Darby from Flight of the Conchords and Wrecked, and hosted by Nick Vatterott, one of Vulture’s “50 Comedians You Should Know”.

About TJ Miller

He’s a wanted man (sort of): TJ Miller is one of the most sought after comedians in the comedy world, but not in the drama world, or the finance world. He was named one of Variety’s “Top 10 Comics to Watch,” and EW's “Next Big Things in Comedy”.

He’s got stamina: TJ is a nationally touring stand-up artist, crisscrossing the country listening to Kris Kross (he's also done shows in the U.K., Canada and Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico did not go well)). He has been performing his absurdist observational stand-up act for over 10 years, and has never gone to the bathroom in his pants on stage.  TJ got his start touring with Second City in Chicago and improvising with Annoyance Theater, iO, and managers at electronics stores asking why he was late and smelled like gin.

He’s animated: TJ’s voice stars in Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated feature, Big Hero 6. TJ also talks like an old drag queen after a hard night of chain smoking, and thus voiced the character Tuffnut in the Oscar-nominated animated film How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2 as well as the Netflix TV series of the same name. He also voices Robbie from Gravity Falls on Disney, and GORBURGER, a very strange show you just have to google to understand.

He’s real: You may recognize TJ’s non-animated face and body from his roles in FOX’s big screen comic book adaptation of Deadpool, the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, 2014’s surprise indie hit Transformers 4, and Mike Judge’s HBO comedy series Silicon Valley, for which he received the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Comedy.  He will also appear in the upcoming film Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg.

About Rhys Darby

He’s multi-talented: Rhys Darby is an actor, stand-up comedian and amateur cryptozoologist from New Zealand.

You’ve seen him: Best known as Murray from HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, Rhys has gone on to star in a plethora of television shows, including The X Files, Life in Pieces, Modern Family, Comedy’s Wrecked and Netflix’s Voltron. Rhys also wrote and starred in his own 8-part mockumentary comedy series for TVNZ and Netflix, Short Poppies.   Rhys made his feature film debut in Yes Man with Jim Carrey and most recently he was seen in the Taika Waititi’s What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Rhys will next be seen in the Jumanji sequel alongside Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

He’s a disciplined stand-up: An ex-soldier in the New Zealand Army and a veteran of twenty years as a stand-up comedian, Rhys is never far from his stand-up roots. His stand-up has been described as a sensational blend of sound effects, characterizations and askew observations.  He has performed his unique brand of humour in places as far flung as Iceland to the Falkland Islands, and in festivals from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to Montreal’s Just for Laughs.

About Nick Vatterott

People are talking about him: In 2010, The Hollywood Reporter named Nick Vatterott one of the “break-outs” at the Montreal’s Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. Vulture.com listed him as one of the top 50 comedians you should know in 2015 and Chicago Magazine listed Nick as “The Funniest Man in Chicago.”

He’s also a writer: Vatterott was also a producer/writer/performer on Comedy Central’s stand-up sketch hybrid show Mash-Up and is currently writing for GORBURGER on Comedy Central with TJ Miller.

He’s on TV:  Vatterott has performed on Conan, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and has a half hour special on Comedy Central. His debut comedy record, For Amusement Only was released in November 2014 by Comedy Central Records and was voted by Vulture, Laughspin, and Splitsider as one of the year’s best comedy albums.

About the Just For Laughs Group

Founded in 1983, the Just For Laughs Group’s growth is concentrated on three major focal points: festivals (in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Sydney); television production (most notably Gags, seen in 135 countries and on 95 airlines); and live shows (Canadian tour dates for Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K., Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Aziz Ansari, John Mulaney, Jeremy Hotz, Danny Bhoy, Jimmy Carr, North American dates for John Cleese & Eric Idle and Family Guy Live!).
